Jefferson Student Earns People's Choice Honors
Jefferson School fourth grader Ndeye Biteye has earned a People's Choice honors in the America SCORES Our Words Our Cities national poetry slam.
The award was presented to Biteye October 13 at the Better Family Life community center in St. Louis.
Biteye earned her spot in the national competition after performing in Chicago for the regional battle. However, COVID-19 caused the national slam -- planned for Washington, D.C. -- to be postponed.
Determined not to allow the poet-athletes to be denied their moment to shine, the American SCORES national council provided a virtual National Poetry Slam throughout the month of September.
According to BFL, Biteye received the most votes of all of the other contestants.
